Music therapy is a clinical, evidence-based practice that uses music to support emotional, physical, cognitive, and social growth. It’s facilitated by a board-certified music therapist (like me!) and is tailored to each client’s goals.
-
Music therapy is for people of all ages and abilities—-from toddlers to seniors. It can support individuals with development delays, autism, anxiety, physical disabilities, neurological conditions, or anyone seeking growth, expression, or support through music.
-
Not at all! Music therapy is about using music as a tool, not about musical ability or performance. Clients can participate through movement, listening, singing, or simply being present. No prior experience is needed.
-
Every session is customized. It may include singing, instrument play, movement, songwriting, listening to music, or improvisation—always with a therapeutic goal in mind, like improving communication, motor coordination, or emotional expression.
-
I offer 30-, 45-, and 60-minute sessions depending on age, attention span, goals, and client preference. We’ll decide what’s best for you or your child after the initial music therapy evaluation.
-
Yes! Group music therapy sessions are a great way to support social interaction, turn-taking, cooperation, and peer-connection in a fun, low-pressure environment. Groups are kept small to ensure everyone gets individual attention.
-
If you’re looking for a therapeutic approach that’s creative, engaging, and relationship-centered, music therapy may be a great match.
-
Yes! I work with clients of all ages, including teens and adults. Music therapy can support adults with mental health goals, neurological conditions, or those seeking a creative outlet for processing and growth.

Rates depend on session length and format (individual or group). Please visit my services section above for a cost breakdown.

Some insurance providers may cover music therapy, especially when it’s related to developmental or medical needs. I’m happy to provide documentation for you to submit to your provider, though I don’t currently bill insurance directly.
-
Sessions are held in my studio at First Lutheran Church, a welcoming, accessible space in Muskegon, MI. I also offer select services in schools or community settings upon request.

I understand that life can be unpredictable, and I strive to be as flexible and supportive as possible.
If you need to cancel a session, please provide at least 24 hours' notice. You will not be billed for sessions canceled with adequate notice.
Cancellations made with less than 24 hours’ notice will be billed at the regular session rate.
I will always do my best to offer a make-up session when possible, based on availability.
All sessions are billed at the end of each month, so any eligible cancellations or rescheduled sessions will be reflected accordingly.
-
It depends on the age and needs of the client:
For young children or clients who benefit from extra support, I may invite a parent or caregiver to stay nearby or participate as needed, especially during initial sessions.
For older children, teens, or adults, sessions are typically one-on-one.
However, I always welcome caregiver input before and after sessions, and will collaborate closely with families to support ongoing goals. My goal is to create a space where each client feels safe, supported, and empowered, whether that includes a caregiver in the room or not.
